Some comments about this we saw on the web:
* /u/mrobviousguy on /r/BurningMan I got the following email from one of the french quarter list:For the first time in recent memory, there has been enough rain around the playa that grass alongside route 447 is green, and Black Rock City is full of biting insects! This is NO JOKE. The build crews currently in Gerlach and on playa are being eaten alive. Bring DEET for the day, mosquito nets to sleep in at night, citronella candles for your camp, bug zappers, medication for bites, or whatever other means you can think of to survive a constant swarm of mosquito’s and other nasties.
Here is a look at how lush and green the road to Burning Man is this year: http://blog.burningman.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/green-hills-from-phoenix.jpg
Here is a simple mosquito trap that works on a small scale, is cheap to make, and requires no power:

Here is a zapper that I have seen do an amazing job on a large scale in the past: http://www.amazon.com/Flowtron-BK-40D-Electronic-Insect-Coverage/dp/B00004R9VW/
If you wanted to deploy one of those zappers, you would need to place it well away from your camp, because it attracts a swarm of bugs that it kills. You would also need to run a long extension cord to it from your generator, because the cord it comes with is just about a foot or two long. And you would need a big tray on the ground beneath it, or a bucket suspended below it, to collect the torched bugs for LNT.
Bug repellant is probably your most essential tool though, because you’ll need it to go out into the deep playa at night, where no zappers or other control mechanisms are deployed.
