* /u/venturoo on /r/BurningMan ok i really love lighting up bikes and such so maybe i can help. Im just spitballin ideas here but hear me out.

For the lighting, on the easy side i would take one or two EL wire strings and have them pulse at different intervals so they are always lit but change color. you can buy em for about 5 buck a pop on amazon. Just run them up and down the pole then use clear packing tape to secure it to the PVC. it also helps with waterproofing. for a more advanced lighting system i would take this kind of lighting and hook it up with a positive and negative wire going to a 9V battery. I have tried it and it works but the lights cant be too long our you will run out of juice too quick. With this setup and a small amount of easy soldering you can cut a foot or so per flag either at the top or along the L and run line down to the base where the battery lives.

Another possibility that is much more expensive is getting a solar powered LED christmas tree string, but those will run about 15 bucks a pop.

Now for the pole itself, I have a milk crate on the back of my bike and have tried to attach a PVC pole to it with an T braket and some zip ties, it has not worked very well at all. zip ties dont hold the pole well enough to stop wind from fucking shit up. I would suggest attaching the pole to the rear end of the frame but i have not found a good way to do this yet.

Now for the flag itself I would try to orient the flag so it falls lengthwise, Then use a PVC L bracket to basically make an upside down L and hang it longways.
