It’s been my sole cup for the past 3 years. It works like a champ. It fits over my handlebars for easy carrying, and it holds a ton of liquid.

This year it bit me in the ass.

I met the owners of the inchworm art car down around 8:40 and J. They’re a hilariously fun couple and they run my favourite art car on the playa. They’d worked for years on the perfect Long Island Iced Tea recipe and finally had it, so they offered some up. Far be it from me to turn down tasty booze - I drank the last of my water and handed over my cup.

Now most reasonable burners will pour in a reasonable dose of whatever they’re offering. Homebrew camps: ~8oz of beer. Bars: a cocktail’s worth. Not these fuckers. He gave me about 48oz of Long Island and it was damned delicious.

It wasn’t until about 3 hours later that I realized I was ripped to the tits, still drinking a long island and hadn’t had any water in hours. Motherfucker tried to kill me with my own magnificent cup. ಠ_ಠ

I woke them up early the next day by barging into their RV with a bottle of homemade limoncello and the next night made them suck down a big bottle of apple pie. Tricky assholes.

I think it’s called a thermos. Heh.

I’ve heard a few rave reviews of this thing, which is getting pretty popular - basically the size and shape of a Nalgene, but seriously insulated. The most popular one I see out there is the Bubba. I think the biggest size is absurdly bulky, but they have different sizes.

Rugged, with a lid and a handle for clipping onto things is pretty much the way to go. Mine looks like this. It’s a bit unwieldy, but it does the trick.

Pro tip: Photocopy your driver’s licence and tape it to the outside of your cup.

Never be without it.
