Some comments about this we saw on the web:
* /u/sillycyco on /r/BurningMan I bring one of these plus a few more I’ve bought here and there. They are just ready made typical first aid kits, though I like the “save-a-tooth” thing in the first one. I have a small one I keep in my back pack when out and about. Also, buy extra bandages, tweezers for splinters, eye drops, aloe gel for sun burns, neosporin, alcohol, mole skin to prevent blisters, super glue (great for small cuts), liquid bandage (similar to super glue), stuff like that. Also meds like advil, imodium, cough drops, decongestant, etc.
The majority of injuries out there are scrapes/cuts and blisters. Lots of wood, jagged rebar, bike crashes, sun, walking, tripping (down, not balls, but that too) dehydration, BURNS, blah blah blah.
Anything more than a minor injury should be taken to the med folks. Minor injuries should be handled without bothering them. Don’t go to the playa hospital to replace a bandaid.
Cuts have a problem healing properly out there due to the activity, dust and whatnot. Keep em covered and put an anti bacterial ointment on it. Dont break any bones or impale your self on rebar. A sucking chest wound brings your whole camps burn down.
EDIT: Oh ya, there is also an insurance policy you can get in case you have to be helicopter’d out of BM for a dire emergency. I believe this is the site: http://www.care-flight.com/. An air lift can be VERY expensive.
