Some comments about this we saw on the web:

* /u/mudclub on /r/BurningMan I don’t have one. I’m the closest thing to a darkwad out there without actually being one. I have a ton of these sorts of things that I carry around, dangle from backpacks, hang from handlebars, etc. All of the camp bikes are reasonably well illuminated with el wire and spoke lights (which are surprisingly robust).

——* /u/potato0 on /r/BurningMan I’ll add that I tried Nite Ize Spoke Lights last year, and they were totally worthless. Given how they are sealed I honestly have no idea how it did it, but the playa killed these in a night. They’re heavy enough to feel on your wheel, and not bright enough to be worth it.

I would be very curious to hear a review of the Monkey Light M232, if anyone has tried it. It’s the kind of thing that looks good enough, but is expensive enough, that it really has to work well to be worth it. It looks like it would have playa survivability problems, but I’ve also heard that they’re surprisingly durable.

If anyone knows of some valve lights like these that actually work, they seem like a nice easy solution for a little extra bike visibility. The problem with the ones I’ve seen is that while they’re cheap enough to not care if they break, they usually just don’t work to begin with.
