Some comments about this we saw on the web:
* /u/drag0nslovetacos on /r/BurningMan How much camping gear and personal supply stuff do you already have? Here are my ABSOLUTE BARE ESSENTIALS, including links, you might already have some of these in your house so you don’t need to factor in all the costs: * Cooler with a drain
Tent (cheap is okay, as long as it doesnt have a mesh top) - I took an older version of this tent for 3 burns and it had no mesh panel, I can’t tell if they’ve changed that design though…
Super long tent stakes or candycaned rebar + mallet
Foam pad or air mattress or something to sleep on
Bike + lock
Booze cup with a sealing lid, a travel mug, or dedicated booze nalgene
Camelback backpack (obvs doesn’t have to be namebrand, military surplus works well). Or use a regular backpack and put a platypus bag in it.
LIGHTS (LED battery powered ones for your pack and bike, glowsticks as backup for if you break those, please don’t be a darktard, its one of the biggest mistakes virgins make)
Earplugs
Sunscreen (you’ll want the spray kind) + Chapstick
——* /u/mudclub on /r/BurningMan el wire is plenty bright on bikes at night out there.
For LEDs, fairy lights and things like that are great - eg: https://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Lights-Battery-Operated-Blinking/dp/B00M2DPLIE - this is not an endorsement of these particular lights - they’re just the first hit I got. Just carry a couple of spare batteries with you.
