People are usually more willing to help you set up your shade structure (especially for a cold beer or a shoulder rub) than they are to provide shade for you.

I mean, if you’re visiting a camp for an hour or so, and they have guest areas, that’s one thing, but hanging out all the time at a nearby camp is a bit moochy, unless you really click and they invite you to camp with them (but I wouldn’t ask).

This is very unlikely at theme camps as they have all their space and shade planned out before they hit the playa. But small groups of friends can be more accommodating, especially if it’s one of those serendipitous things where you meet instant family and just start sharing everything. But again, that’s rare.

Best to be prepared with some of your own shade, even if it’s small. It’s a godsend when you’re tired as hell and just want to hang at “home”.
