It’s really simple math to determine how much of a battery you’ll need, but you have to know what power the stuff you’re powering consumes.You’ll need a battery, but you have to charge it and keep it charged, so you’ll need a charger for when you’re home. If you’re powering gear that uses 110VAC, you’ll need an inverter for the battery. You need to know how many watts your gear sucks up, and buy an inverter that delivers more watts than that so you don’t burn out the inverter. You need a voltmeter to measure the voltage your battery is putting out.
Batteries use amps, and AC devices use watts. If your device draws 330W from 110VAC, amps = 330W \ 110VAC = 3Amps. (This is an acceptable estimate, I believe.)
C = A*t where C is the current drawn, A is amps, and t is time.
If you have a 100 AmpHour battery, theoretically it will deliver 100 amps for one hour or 1 amp for one hundred hours:
C = 100 * 1 or C = 1 * 100
However, it’s impossible for your battery to delivery its entire capacity. When a 12V battery is drawn down so that it delivers only 10V, it’s considered fully discharged.
If you have that 330W device that expects 110VAC, you’ll need 3Amps of power from your 100AmpHour battery. 100AmpHours / 3Amps = 33 hours of playing time for that device, BUT you’ll need to take power consumption of the inverter into account.
Most important: Get a battery box for your battery. You’ll need to know the measurements of your battery to get a box that fits. You do NOT want to drop a screwdriver or rebar or other metal object across the the battery terminals.
